Modern Psalter is a response to the Church's desire to more closely identify the Psalms, the ancient prayers of Israel, with the rest of the liturgy. The book of Psalms is the only book of the bible that is read in every Catholic Mass. To honor that, the Bishops have asked that the texts be verbatim.

Now, I know what you're thinking... This is great, but I play music every Sunday—where am I supposed to find settings for these psalms? Enter Modern Psalter. But now you're asking... what is a psalter?

psal•ter

  • the Book of Psalms, especially for liturgical use

So Modern Psalter is a contemporary approach to the ancient beauty of the psalms, the same psalms that King David wrote... the same psalms that Jesus quoted and prayed... Our psalter is transmitted via podcast and with .pdf files so that you can have access to this psalter anywhere in the world! An ancient hymnal translated by modern technology.
